Narrow defeat in Littleham sees a 20% increase in vote share for the Lib Dems
The Liberal Democrats saw an increase in their share of the vote by 20% on Thursday coming in second to the conservatives by a narrow margin of just 80 votes in the Littleham by-election for East Devon District Council.
A strong performance was also seen in the town council election, with just 68 votes separating Sue Brooks from the victorious Conservative candidate.
Alex Sadiq was also narrowly defeated for the District Council seat. Speaking after the result, Alex said 'It was disappointing to come so close, but great to have the opportunity to meet so many residents and listen to what matters to them. I have passed on all views to our elected councillors.'
With the strong likelihood of another bi election this side of Christmas this was a very encouraging performance, if not the result that was wanted.
The candidates would like to pass on their thanks for all the hard work that the Exmouth party put into the campaign, giving up their own time to support them.
